Our Philosophy

Mindfullness & Sustainability

For the past 50 years, we have witnessed first-hand the development of tourism on the island, including its impact on society and the environment. There is a fragile environmental balance on the island and the Garajonay National Park that must be preserved. We work together to make the island and the world a better place than the one we are in today.

European Chart of Sustainable Tourism

Since 1970 we have been working in cultural and rural tourism, offering in our apartments the services of a hotel with an outstanding value for money. In 2011 that bet has been translated in the adhesion of the apartments and our Ethnographic Park to the European Charter of Sustainable Tourism. Together with 20 other companies from La Gomera, we are collaborating with the National Park and the Europarc Network to promote tourism that respects the exceptional ecosystem that is La Gomera and the Garajonay National Park. The CETS (European Charter for Sustainable Tourism) was also the social engine for the achievement of the Biosphere Reserve of La Gomera. Since 2018 we have also been working with the NGO Canarias Libre de Plásticos, which works to raise awareness of the need to take care of our seas and improve our consumer habits in order to reduce our impact on the marine environment.

How we do it in our Hotel

We buy low-consumption bulbs and appliances. We make our staff and guests aware of responsible consumption.

We use 100% recycled paper in all our media (even toilet paper). Even so, we print only the essentials.

We reduce packaging. We offer soaps and gels in dispensers. Our breakfast offers bulk products in containers that we reuse.

We only use ecological cleaning products and water-based varnishes and paints. We also change towels only on request.

Our fruit and vegetable farm is certified and 100% organic.

Our suppliers are local. We recommend Km0 and sustainable routes.

Microplastics

The word of 2018 according to Greenpeace and Fundéu BBVA is “MICROPLASTIC”. A phenomenon that is already one of the most serious environmental problems of the planet in the 21st century.
Los Telares are proud collaborators of the NGO Canarias Libre de Plásticos (Canary Islands Free from Plastics), a non-profit organization that in just 6 months in the Canary Islands has managed to clean more than 30 beaches, mobilize 600 volunteers, give 40 informative talks and more than 10,000 followers in networks.
Would you like to collaborate? You can ask to donate the amount you want through reception, we will add it to your reservation and we will send it in its entirety to CLP. In addition, in our networks we publish all the cleaning and activities carried out in La Gomera. www.canariaslibredeplasticos.org

INFO

We enjoy quality

If in the 70's Los Telares was born as a pioneer company in rural tourism in La Gomera, in 2010 it reinvented itself as a company where quality and professionalism have been the key to growth. Improvements that have allowed us to carry the constant pulse of our commitment to quality so that guests feel pampered.

In 1988 we received the International Tourism Award. In 2013 we were awarded the Prize for Business Excellence by the Ministry of Tourism of the Canary Islands, an award that recognizes our commitment to quality and constant improvement. The prize for excellence is also given to us by our guests, who rate us in the Top 5 of La Gomera's accommodations in Tripadvisor.
