Los Telares celebrates its 50th birthday at FITUR with a new image

This marks the beginning of an eventful year in 2020 to commemorate a long history of tourism, which began in 1970

The tourism company Los Telares, from La Gomera, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and will do so in a special manner throughout these twelve months, a commemoration that begins with its presence at FITUR, Madrid, this week.

Los Telares has been working in the tourism sector on the island of La Gomera since 1970, a story that was started by its founder, Maruca Gámez, who was awarded the Amables del Turismo prize. Los Telares has put the municipality of Hermigua on the map as a unique destination. It promoted the development of sustainable tourism on this island by selling craft products and spreading the values of the local culture.

Its director, Luisa Trujillo, member of Ashotel in La Gomera, advances what will come in 2020. “We have been growing and evolving for half a century and this year, precisely because of its importance, we are going to take on an extra boost”.

Thus, Los Telares is not only coming to FITUR with a campaign of discounts and promotions for its end customers, but also with a completely revamped corporate image. “We have made an extra effort to update our online presence. We are especially proud of our renewed web presence, where our customers can discover the offerings of our Ethnographic Park of La Gomera and purchase their tickets through our store,” explains Trujillo.

The accommodation offer of its brand Suites & Villas Los Telares is also updated. This first quarter of the year will see the incorporation of several new accommodation units in Agulo, increasing its presence in that municipality. “Agulo is our logical growth area. The offer of Hermigua and Agulo is very connected. They are two municipalities that share the same valley, the same coast, and even companies from both are in the AEN, the Businessmen’s Association of Northern La Gomera, which we preside from Los Telares”, adds the also owner of the company.

Los Telares continues to be committed to sustainable tourism. “Growing is not at odds with respecting our environment and our traditional values. We have taken this into account since our foundation in 1970, but we have also been part of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism for 10 years now. In collaboration with the Garajonay National Park and other companies committed to the island, we are investing and working day after day to improve our environmental impact,” says Luisa Trujillo.

Los Telares will be at FITUR 2020 in Madrid from January 22nd to 26th as co-exhibitor in the Canary Islands Pavilion.
