We had a magnificent collection of old looms in our building, so it was something that had crossed our minds a couple times. Finally, in collaboration with the Government of La Gomera we have been able to organize this summer course. For more than 30 years our artisans’ shop Los Telares (The Looms) begun reviving traditional crafts. For years in these same looms we have woven traditional fabrics making colorful carpets, curtains, bed covers or bags. These looms are the origin of our apartments’ name, the collection of antique looms that nowadays our guests’ can visit in our manor house by the swimming-pool.
This summer, from the 15th to the 26th of July, from Monday to Friday, 17:30 to 19:30, our students will study how to weave in a traditional loom and recover this old technique. We hope this initiative helps renew the interest in learning the crafts of La Gomera. For our guests, you will be able to glimpse this course on the way to a relaxed afternoon by our swimming-pool. 🙂
