It’s no secret that Booking.com offers the best online hotel rates. And that’s simply because they have agreements signed with all the accommodations they market, preventing them from offering directly or on any other website rates or conditions better than those available on the popular search engine. Today, this is changing. It doesn’t mean you’ll be able to book cheaper online—this hasn’t happened yet… yet.
But since July 1, 2015, Booking has informed all its European hotels that they are allowed to offer different rates (obviously, more advantageous ones) as long as they are not published openly. For example, if you call us by phone or send us an email. Or if we send an offer via our Newsletter. Of course, like any private company, this hasn’t happened out of altruism, but due to concerns over the wave of new legislation targeting the practices of this and other hotel booking websites.
This is excellent news for both you and us. It doesn’t mean that Booking will disappear from the face of the earth—they provide excellent service and hold an undisputed leadership in the hotel market.
