It is no secret that Booking.com offers the best online rates on hotels. It is because they have an agreement with every hotel they commercialize, so that the hotel is not allowed to offer directly or through any other website any rate or condition better than those offered through Booking. Well, that is slowly changing. Not that you will be able to buy any cheaper anywhere on the website, that is something that hasn’t changed. Yet.
But since the 1st of July 2015, Booking has sent a bulletin to all its European hotels allowing them to offer different (and obviously better) rates only if they are not openly offered, but on private communications to previous or new guests. For example, we are allowed to give you a better rate if you give us a call or send us an email. We are also allowed to send specific offers on our newsletters. Of course, as any other Company, this is not due to kindness of heart but to new regulations in place in some countries that is ruling against some of the Contract Clauses in the private agreements between Booking.com and the hotels.
Of course, that is good news for all of us. Not that Booking.com will be ever removed from the equation, they do offer a brilliant service and enjoy undisputed market leadership.
